Third Night Added for Art the Clown!
This year Awaken welcomes Art the Clown from Terrifier! That’s right, actor David Howard Thornton will be visiting Awaken on Friday, October 14th and Saturday, October 15th! And, now, due to overwhelming excitement and demand, we’ve added a 3rd night, Sunday October 16th! So, now you have 3 exciting nights where you can visit with David, get an autograph and talk about the upcoming Terrifier 2.
We’re super excited to host David this year and you should be excited also. For those of you who missed David playing Art in Terrifier when it debuted in 2016, here’s the original trailer:
And, in case you hadn’t heard Terrifier 2 will be released on October 6th this Halloween season, just one week ahead of David’s visit. If you liked the original Terrifier, Terrifier 2 looks like an terrifying continuation of the Art the Clown saga.
Art the Clown, and David’s terrifyingly amazing performance in both Terrifier movies, make him an exciting addition to our list of celebrities that have visited Awaken. We can’t wait to meet David this October, and our fans @ Awaken are going to be super excited for his visit! It should be a fantastic weekend!
The End of Hotel Awaken/ Newly Leaked Photos
Last season, we said goodbye to the Hotel Awaken introduction to the haunt. We also sadly said goodbye to Carl, everyone’s’ favorite hotel maintenance supervisor.
For the previous three years Carl, our psychotic maintenance man, has “greeted Awaken guests” and brought them through the start of their haunt experience. He would “check our guests in”, “help” guests navigate the hotel, offer sound advice on how not to piss him off and, most importantly, how to stay alive if it suited him. He was rude, crude, smelly and extremely unlikable. Everyone loved him.
Well, no more. Carl is moving on to better things (although our actor playing Carl will still be a huge part of Awaken) and the Hotel Awaken is being torn down. An exciting new entrance theme is planned for Awaken next fall, and we think it’s going to be fantastic. Of course, it’s always possible Carl turns up somewhere….he has a strong instinct for survival after all.
While this newsletter author hasn’t been able to get past the construction barriers to see what’s going on, we recently had an insider provide us a few leaked photos from the inside.

Testing area?
Strange, fluorescent goo?
We’re not sure what’s going on on the old Hotel Awaken’s grounds, but we’ll soon find out. We just hope it’s nothing dangerous.
Horror Movie/Series Happenings
Barbarian, September 9th
We love the look and feel of this movie from the trailer. Bill Skarsgard, who played Pennywise the Clown and has appeared in other notable roles, gives this film a certain creepiness right from the start. Georgina Campbell stars as a woman traveling to Detroit for a job interview. Unfortunately, when she arrives at her rental, she discovers that it has been double booked. A man who is already staying there greets her. It’s late, she’s tired, and against her better judgement she decides to spend the night. Read More.
Speak No Evil, September 9th
Maybe more psychological thriller than outright horror movie, Speak No Evil looks pretty disturbing. Two families become friendly while on vacation in Italy. Later, they return home and an invitation is extended for one family to come and visit the other family in their Dutch home. Things begin to unravel on the visit as the houseguests slowly begin to understand that they really don’t know anything about their hosts. Read More.
