Love is Coming to Awaken!
Hello Awaken Fans,
It’s past New Year, the snow is everywhere and the winter blahs have set in. But, you can shake off the winter gray this Saturday, February 12th with the help of Love Bites, our exciting Valentine’s Day event!
We’ve decorated for the holiday, and, as usual, our lovely Cupid will be making an appearance to wish all of the couples a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
This will be our 4th annual Valentine’s themed event, and we hope it’s just as fun as the previous three. What better way to break up a dreary Michigan February than with an exciting trip through Awaken?
So, please join us for a night of lost loves, tragic endings, and dark scary secrets! You don’t need a date for this Valentine event, but we strongly recommend that you don’t come alone. You and your group will be provided one flashlight as Awaken turns down the lights to pure black*.
Yes, you heard right...one flashlight to travel into the depths of our horror-filled haunt. This means the corners will be darker, the shadows deeper and the fun and scares even scarier. Your imagination will run wild for this fun, exciting and terror filled Valentine’s Day event!
This is a super fun and exciting night of fright and fun that you and your friends won't soon forget!
*For the fact checkers, there will technically be a few areas that will have some light, like our 3D maze and laser swamp.
The End of Hotel Awaken
Sadly, this weekend’s Love Bites event will mark the last appearance of our Hotel Awaken, the hotel themed entry portion of our haunt.
For the last three years Carl, our psychotic maintenance man, has “greeted Awaken guests” and brought them through the start of their haunt experience. He would “check our guests in”, help guests navigate the hotel, offer sound advice on how not to piss him off and, most importantly, how to stay alive if it suited him. He was rude, crude, smelly and extremely unlikable. Everyone loved him.
Well, no more. Carl is moving on to better things (although our actor playing Carl will still be a huge part of Awaken) and the Hotel Awaken is being torn down. An exciting new entrance theme is planned for Awaken next fall, and we think it’s going to be fantastic. Of course, it’s always possible Carl turns up somewhere….he has a strong instinct for survival after all.
We’ll have more details as fall grows closer, but in the meantime, you can visit Carl at Hotel Awaken one last time this Saturday at Love Bites. We know Carl’s looking forward to seeing you!
Marry Me Michael Myers?
Some of you may or may not know that Awaken has developed a friendship with the original Michael Myers, actor Tony Moran, over the years. Tony has made special guest appearances twice (in 2017 and again in 2021) during our Halloween season, and our guests have had a great time getting to know him.
So, when we heard that Tony was an ordained minister and had performed wedding ceremonies in the past, we thought, “Why not offer this at Awaken?” Why not offer our guests who love horror, and are planning on getting married, something special and unique for their big day?
What if Michael Myers could marry you? What if Michael Myers could marry you in the heart of October? Or, what if Michael Myers could even marry you on Halloween night?
What if you could even pull the Michael Myers’ mask off for an amazing photo shoot for you and all your guests. We think this is going to be an an incredibly fun, unique and memorable experience for those of you who love horror 365 days a year.
