Hello Awaken Fans,
Saturdays and Haunted Houses. They go together like Jason Voorhees and heavy breathing. But, are Saturdays the best time for haunted house fans to visit? That often depends on what you want to experience.
Pros
Great Atmosphere - Saturdays are rockin’ for haunts! The atmosphere definitely gets turned up a few notches. The people are out and it creates a great vibe. This means more anticipation and fun than an early season Thursday where there’s just less going on. So, Saturdays are special.
More Actors - More actors usually mean more scares. Haunts will bring out as many actors as possible for a Saturday. Plus actors (who are usually working long hours for this part-time gig) are more available on the weekend. So more people are going to be jumping out at you from who knows where and their should be more attention to line entertainment also, as you’ve got to try to keep the guests on their toes.
More Entertainment - Because Saturday nights at a haunt are usually the busiest, there’s usually more going on. At Awaken before Covid, we’d have magic performers, horror authors, snakes and other exotic animals, freak performers, musicians and more, mostly on Saturday nights. We assume these performers and personalities will return in 2021.
Cons
Less Time Between Groups - Things get sped up a little usually on busier nights. Actors have less time for improvising or spending excessive time with a group, because the next group is on its way. If you want a slower production and a little more time to look around, off nights are better.

Nobody likes waiting in line.
Longer Waits - More people, more waiting. At Awaken, we don’t “conga line” groups through the haunt on top of each and almost never combine groups. We believe that this leads to a better experience for our guests once inside the haunt. Here’s a post on our philosophy and an apology to some guests who had a longer than usual wait.
Rowdier Guests - The rowdier part of the general public sometimes shows up more as the season goes forward. Someone who’s had a few too many is rarely a good time for anyone, but they are what they are. At Awaken, anyone causing trouble will be removed, but that’s never fun.
Bottom Line
Saturday nights at a haunt can be a really awesome experience. There’s usually an energy in the air, more performances and other fun stuff going on. But, can be longer waits and the usual issues when you’ve got a crowd of people hanging out. Are Saturday’s worth it? It depends on what you’re looking for.
